Scheme SP 203-1

Design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems - independently audited against the third-party certification scheme recognised by insurers and enforcing authorities.

Reference standard

BS 5839 pt1

Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings - system design, installation, commissioning and maintenance.

System types

Three detection strategies. One certified team.

The right system for the building rather than the system we happen to stock. Our engineers design around the risk, the fabric of the property and the people inside it.

Type 01

Conventional

Zone-based detection suited to smaller single-occupancy premises. Each zone traced back to the panel, with manual call points and detectors wired on the same circuit.

Typical fit

Small offices, shops, single-storey units

Type 02

Addressable

Each device carries a unique address, so the panel pinpoints the exact detector in alarm. Faster response, clearer fault finding, and the right call for multi-room or multi-floor buildings.

Typical fit

Schools, care homes, hotels, larger commercial

Type 03

Wireless

Radio-linked detection where cabling is impractical, heritage-sensitive or disruptive to occupants. Full compliance with BS 5839 pt1 with battery-monitored devices.

Typical fit

Listed buildings, phased fit-outs, tenanted sites

Lifecycle

Survey to sign-off, one accountable team.

01

Survey

Walk the building, review the risk, size the system to category.

02

Design

Panel, devices and zoning set to the spec that BS 5839 pt1 demands.

03

Install

Cabled or wireless, by our own engineers - no sub-contract crews.

04

Commission

Cause-and-effect testing, certification, handover with operator training.

05

Maintain

Scheduled servicing plus 24-hour call-out for contracted sites.

Categories under BS 5839 pt1

Life safety, property protection or a bespoke blend.

The category drives what gets detected, where, and to what standard. We specify against the risk identified in your fire risk assessment, not against an off-the-shelf template.

Takeover of an existing system

Unhappy with your current service provider? We can take over maintenance of a fire alarm we didn’t install, after a single site survey. Contracted customers get a 24-hour call-out facility included.

L1

Life safety - detection throughout the protected building.

L2

Life safety - detection in escape routes and defined high-risk rooms.

L3

Life safety - detection in escape routes plus adjoining rooms.

L4

Life safety - detection in escape routes only.

L5

Life safety - bespoke to a specific risk identified in the assessment.

P1

Property protection - detection throughout the whole building.

P2

Property protection - detection in defined areas of the building.

Service area

Across South Wales, on one call.

Fire alarm installations and maintenance visits from our Cwmbran base, covering Cardiff, Newport, Cwmbran, Abergavenny, Monmouth and the smaller towns in between. Whether it’s a single office or a multi-site estate, we’ll walk the building before we quote.

New install, upgrade or takeover?

We’ll survey the building, specify to BS 5839 pt1 and put it in writing - at no cost.
